Location, very good food for room service

Poor breakfast, deteriorating with time... Difficult to order room service

        • Older travelers
          8.4

The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. Excellent location for sight-seeing and shopping. Breakfast selection really good but as our stay was out of season that a menu card at the table would have given us a fresher breakfast and maybe more cost effective for the Hotel. Enjoyed our stay and would book again.

The Hotel Staff need a chair behind the desk to sit on thats not going to give them a back problem.

        • Older travelers
          9.2

The friendliness and help from the management and staff. We landed at a 7:30am flight and the hotel was kind enough to allow us to check in and have our room ready at such early hour. The location of the hotel great!!!! within short walking distance to shops, transportation, museums and sights. The Red touring city bus and Syntagma Square is just around the corner and so are various archeological sights. The tomb of the unknown soldier is across the street! Complete breakfast!

Just be careful with the sharp corner of the bed (at the foot)... got scratch several times!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very tidy - loved the bathroom, great shower! Excellent location, easy access to public buses and sightseeing buses.

Unfotunatey there were demonstrations outside the parliament which is 100 metres away on the other side of the street. The number of protesters numbered up to 10000 and the noise was deafening every night we were there. I have photos which were taken from my balcony - one was taken at midnight. Restful sleep at night was impossible. The hotel staff were excellent. Sad that the demonstrations ruined our stay. They were captives to the situation, unable to do Nything about it other than to do all they could to make guests feel as comfortable as possible. Regards, Barry Levy

Excellent location for sightseeing and the inclusion of internet at no extra cost for booking through Booked.net promotion.

        • Couple
          6.6

Excellent location. Clean. Great views from deluxe room and rooftop garden. Decent breakfast buffet. Lobby's free internet and printer was useful for travel arrangements.

Should have free wifi for price of room. Room service food was only marginal; more Greek food options would be sensible. No way to give gratuity to room service deliverer except cash. Staff at breakfast buffet kind of useless.

        • Single
          8.8

Location and the effort of the staff to please.

        • Couple
          9.6

They upgraded us at no charge to a deluxe room - it was wonderful! A very large room with a very large balcony overlooking the Temple of Olympian Zeus. It was a wonderful way to start our visit to Athens. Additionally, the road that the hotel was on, combined with keeping the door wall closed, resulted in a very quiet night's sleep

A "double", as is typical in many European hotels, is two twin beds pushed together. Not very conducive to snuggling. :(

          Central location, yet quiet rooms.

Comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast, reasonable prices, close to everything. As with most European Hotels, the ventilation, soundproofing and A.c systems is not as good as the best North American Hotel chains, you get used to that if you travel in Europe whether visiting a Castle or a b&B.

Been before many times. Staff always helpful. Great breakfast. Central location, well away from bad areas of city. Internet good and now much cheaper than on previous stays.

          No in-room tea making facility.

Staff was pleasant, breakfast was well rounded and plentiful. Room was kept clean. Location was central and within short walking distance to all of the major tourist attractions in the area.

The room was too small for the title of "Superior" room, in fact it was literally the smallest room on the floor. Would have liked to see a couch or some sort of comfortable chair. Drainage in the bathroom was pretty bad, with dirty water having backed up onto the bathroom floor. Laundry services in the building were extremely over priced and the staff was not helpful in directing us to a local laundry service.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is one block from airport express bus and is close to everything. We walked to the Acropolis, Plaka and other shopping areas. Free buffet breakfast included in room rate and the food was excellent. Everyone who travels to Athens should stay at Amalia! Highly recommended!
